Creating Your 2020 With This Simple Tool #18

Creating Your 2020 With This Simple Tool #18

Hey, my friends, it’s 2020! I don’t know about you but I am super excited about what this new year and new decade will bring. I love to think about where I’ll be at the end of the year, how I will grow and evolve into a better version of myself. My point is, that is we are not mindful of our intentions we will not grow and we repeat the treadmill of life.

Have you ever met people that are stuck on the treadmill of life? When you ask them about their life they say the same old same old. I like to think I’m a girl on the go who keeps evolving and growing with something different always going.

I grew up in a household where taking risks, and challenging yourself was not encouraged. Doing the expected, the path that society had paved was the way I went. Can anyone relate? If something seemed too hard, the message I learned was don’t do it or I should defer to a man to handle it.  There were years where I felt this generational gap and struggled to retrain my mind and learn a new way of thinking. Have you felt that way?

Sometimes when you are in the feeling of neediness and stuckness, you may wonder what the heck is wrong with me? Why can’t I get this right? I’m not smart enough? Have you been there? You question yourself to the max and beat yourself up. Well. the reality is that none of those thoughts are true. There was never anything wrong with me and there is nothing wrong with you.

I know I was never taught how to grow in a healthy way that would allow me to shine. How about you? Many of the women I coach were not taught to live life and embrace challenges in a healthy, fun way with a growth mindset.

I saw that once I freed myself up to be the creator of my life, the one I was meant to live… my natural creativity blossomed.

Today, I am going to share with you one of the annual rituals that keep my creative juices on task and have helped me grow, kept me on track, helped me on task when things get tough, and given me a little push all year long. It’s fun, will be fascinating, and full of surprises if you set your intentions now and think December 31, 2020.

For the last few years, every January I have been selecting a word that I want to embody and own as mine over the course of the year. The principle is that you select a word that encompasses more of something you want in your life. It could be love, creativity, fun, abundance, or health. You consciously practice and become that word for the year and at the end of 2020 see the results.

I love this because it does not require purchasing anything. It is entirely free. Anyone can do this and reap the benefits. It is about being a better version of yourself, just being not doing or adding anything extra on the list to-do list. Being a better version of yourself just attracts more good.

Take a few moments to relax and think about how you would like your life to change over the next year. What are you tired of? I find that many of the women I work with know exactly what they don’t want rather than what they want. Consider, what you want to experience more of in your life? Perhaps it’s love or self-assurance. Or what do you want to become more of this year?

Write all your ideas down and choose one that you feel excited about and that feels in your body. Sometimes it feels difficult. Gather your thoughts, feelings and intended actions to choose. Claim that word as your word for the year. Use this word to shape your days. Keep it in the forefront of your brain to help you make decisions that will propel you into 2021.

This year my word is courage. I need to be the courage to move my business forward and take it to the next level even when it gets scary.

So, what is your word of the year? I would love you to share it with me. You can contact me via Facebook or Instagram.
